Repeating Mistakes

It's often said that if you don't study the past, you are bound to repeat it. I would agree. However, sometimes you have an experience and you think you've learned the lesson. I, on the other hand, sometimes have to have the lesson repeated.

So, this morning I was making pancakes for my 2 youngest before they ventured off to school. I used to always mix the batter by hand, but lately I have been using my hand mixer. So, I put the beaters into the mixer, hold the mixer against my chest with one hand while reaching to plug the mixer in with the other hand. Can you see where this is headed?

Well, I am in the process of plugging it in when the mixer, which was set at the highest level, starts spinning against my chest! Holy Cow - I was so startled and surprised!

Luckily, I wasn't hurt.

Now, this has happened before, and for a while I was very diligent about checking the settings before plugging in the mixer. Not today. Back to checking it again. Hopefully I will make it a permanent change, but knowing me that might not happen.

As a final thought, I would just like to say that I love my KitchenAid! This could never happen on my KitchenAid because that has a safety feature that I love: it won't start after being plugged in until it is on zero and then moved to where you want it. Love it!!
